What Paul believes

Pressure does not erase a team’s skill. It makes that skill harder to use at the moment it matters.

Fifteen years seeingwhat pressure does to people.

Paul Holmes speaking on the TEDx stage.

From nervous-system function to better decisions at work.

Over fifteen years in chiropractic practice, much of Paul’s advanced training centred on applied nervous-system function: how the brain and body communicate, how stress and overload affect movement, attention and coordination, and how people adapt, recover and perform under demand.

He learned to spot the early signs that pressure is taking over: breathing changes, focus narrows, communication gets less clear and decisions get worse.

Paul then spent more than a year as Chief Cultural Officer at 5X. In the global, venture-backed data and AI company of more than 60 people, he worked with leadership, HR, teams and individuals across a distributed workforce on programmes, workshops, peer support, culture and company-wide performance support.

Today Paul gives people practical ways to steady themselves, think clearly and act. He then helps the team use those tools to make better decisions and work together under pressure. Breathing is one tool, not the offer.

Paul does not deliver a feel-good talk and leave. He starts with a real business problem, gets the team to practise a better response and gives managers a way to keep using it.

01

Start with the work

Paul begins with the deadline, decision, handoff or escalation the team needs to handle differently.

02

Make it easy to understand

Paul explains what pressure is changing and why the response works, without hiding behind jargon.

03

Practise under pressure

The team uses the response while focus, communication and decisions are being tested.

04

Leave it with the manager

Managers leave knowing what to watch and how to get the team back on track without waiting for Paul.

Better performancewhile the pressure is happening.

Act while it is happening.

People learn to steady themselves, understand the reaction and choose the next useful action without leaving the situation.

Protect the work and the people.

Better control means faster decisions, clearer action and less of today’s pressure carrying into tomorrow.

What keeps knocking the team off track?

Tell Paul what happens. He will tell you whether he can help.
